“Testimonial time! I recently worked with Lake Erie Electric on implementing the new SPS986 GNSS Smart Antenna. Aaron Graven (below) is an existing Trimble Field Link user, already familiar with using his RTS873 for field layout.”
“On a recent project, they decided to explore the use of the SPS986 to overcome some lateral line-of-sight limitations. I set them up with the SPS986 including the new tilt compensation feature and it has been a resounding success. But don’t take my word for it! Please read below for Aaron’s impressions!”– Ben Little, BuildingPoint Ohio Valley
“Just wanted to say thanks for everything! All of your help and input was essential in getting us moving forward as quickly as possible. The SPS986 has taken our company and our projects to the next level. The speed and simplicity of laying out site work has never been this easy!”
“We were kicking around the idea of adding on the tilt compensator, but I was not quite sold on the concept versus cost. I can tell you it is worth every penny and it has made my job even easier. It literally cuts layout time in half!”
“When shooting and collecting data that you cannot be directly over, it gives you the ability to still layout or collect. Again, thanks for everything! I couldn’t be happier.”– Aaron Graven, Lake Erie Electric
Benjamin Little, Field Technology Sales for Northern Ohio with BuildingPoint Ohio Valley – “This morning I checked in with a new Robotic Total Station user to see how everything is going. The customer, a concrete contractor, has been using mechanical total stations for years, but recently made the jump to the robotic platform based on the capabilities of Trimble’s Field Link software. On this particular project, the multiple arcs and organic design aesthetics necessitated a more innovative approach to layout. So far, the RTS kit has worked out flawlessly and been a game-changer for the current, difficult project.”
In his own words:
“The total station we purchased from Trimble Inc. and Building Point Ohio Valley has [been] an absolutely awesome experience. The capabilities it has, in the field I may add, are unmatched! The amount of time and therefore money it saves is unbelievable. Ben Little, his technical support and know-how with the Trimble RTS kit has been an eye-opening, great experience! The only regret I have with my purchase was that we didn’t make it sooner.”
Regardless of the project or trade, we have a solution that could dramatically improve your layout, design, and project management capabilities!
Benjamin Little, Field Technology Sales for Northern Ohio with BuildingPoint Ohio Valley – “I recently spoke with Mike Ebert, the Virtual Design Manager at Industrial Power Systems (IPS), and asked about his experience using Trimble 3D scanning technology. IPS purchased a Trimble TX6 scanner (with range extender) and Trimble RealWorks software last winter after conducting extensive demonstrations and testing of multiple devices, including competing brands.”
Here is what he had to say:
Mike Ebert, Virtual Design Manager with Industrial Power Systems – “We were nearly sold on the [Leica] RTC-360 before looking into Trimble’s TX6 scanner. We chose the TX6 because of the lower price, smaller file sizes, higher accuracy, and the more superior registration software in Trimble RealWorks. The tech support through BuildingPoint Ohio Valley is unmatched, and they have helped us through every step in our training and implementation. We use the reality capture of the TX6 to model and prefabricate piping, supports, steel, and skids. We are continuing to find different ways to utilize the scanner to improve productivity in many areas of our business. I would highly recommend the TX6 scanner.”
If you, too, are in need of a scanning solution to assist with estimating, design, modeling, and prefabrication. We can find the correct combination of hardware and software to suit your needs, at a competitive price!
“Our use of the X7 has allowed us to bring back field data to locate, identify, and model elements that are not on drawings and/or interfere with the installation of our work scope before we mobilize a crew. On a recent project this allowed us to model roof trusses to confidently prefabricate ceiling hangers(drawing dimensions were incorrect). With the X7 we are also able to verify that all the information is captured and registered before we leave the site. The scan data is colorized and exported to our preferred format(.rcp for Revit use) while traveling back to the office and ready to use immediately. There is no doubt, because of the X7 we see productivity gains both in the field and the office.” – Chad Less, Project Manager, VEC, Inc.
